The “Yamashiro-ondo” dance festival culminates when local young men parade around streets with a portable shrine on their shoulders wishing health and happiness to the people of the town. During the entire festival, the entire town is filled with the fragrance of Japanese iris. |

3 rd July(Sun) – 4 th July(Mon), 2008.
Performing arts called“Daidengaku”dancing was revived by the late Mr. Mannojo Nomura who combined the mysterious and ancient performing art of“Dengaku”with local performing arts and music. Energetic dancers wearing eccentric costumes and move to the mysterious sound of a Japanese flute by the light of a bonfire. Visitors can enjoy bustling streets lined with stalls and events nearby. |

Hassaku Festival is an autumn festival held at Hattori shrine in Yamashiro-onsen. A dancer in he appearance of a giant lion, which was offered at the Hattori shrine, parades around streets; “Urayasu no Mai”is the name of a dedicated dance in the main hall of shrine wishing for peace and a rich harvest and expresses gratitude to the Gods. |
